So I saw this little stool in an op shop a few weeks ago with ideas of turning it into a little crocheted stool I had seen...somewhere, before. I cant crochet, but luckily my mum can!
It only took her 2 days to whip up, and it is just what I had imagined...
It is fastened to the stool with elastic around the edge of the crocheted cover, so it can be removed for cleaning...

Thou Shalt Not Covet...
...Oh but I LOVE this house. I WANT this house. Did I mention I **LOVE** this house...
There is a blog I have been following for quite some time. It's called Bloesem.
I love its STYLE and DESIGN.
(Irene, author of Bloesem, also has a blog called Bloesem Kids...it's all about kids interior design.)
Anyway...a few weeks ago she featured THIS house on her blog. It is the home of Tatjana and Ben of Studio Aandacht in Amsterdam. And as soon as I saw it I fell in love. I think it's the colour mostly...and the simplicity of it- I just love how it all comes together. I dont know what that green thing is on the floor, it looks to me like fake grass- how Cool! And the candles...and the rugs on the couches, and all those books, and the cushions on the floor, and the upside-down crate side table...and the indoor tree...and the LIGHT coming in from outside...
Ok, Ill keep quiet now and let you see for yourself why I NEED this house...

Two New Quilts - In The Shop!
I love our backyard at the moment- it is so 'Wintery'. We still have Autumns leaves covering the ground and the tree has a few crisp white flowers breaking through. Anyway, I'm getting side-tracked...Here are two new quilts I have put up in the Helen & Jane shop. I love them both but I absolutely adore the one with the big stripes. It has such beautiful colours (mostly green and pink and orange) and to me it just yells 'bohemian, baby!'...I love the orange binding too! They are both backed with anti-pill polar fleece and are soooo snuggly and warm and are the perfect size to get cosy under with a good book, or even for a baby blanket or picnic rug. check them out here.

The shop is OPEN!!!
Finally- the Madeit shop is OPEN!!!
Visit the shop here:
Today I uploaded my first items to the Helen & Jane Madeit shop- and I am so excited!
The first items to go up in the shop were some 'Kaliedoscope Singlets' I've made recently. I love them! They remind me of sunny days and picnics and bare feet and laughter...

Red Hill Fair
I've been following the blogs of a few Brisbane designers and crafters for a few months now, and today I got a chance to see some of their creations up close at the Red Hill Fair. After getting lost in suburbia for about half an hour trying to find the fair, we finally found it tucked between a laneway and a little creek. The stress of finding the place disappeared soon after we arrived, as we got to see all the beautiful craft stalls and wander around the market. Some of these ladies are so talented and have really created some unique and funky items. Here's a little view of some of the stalls...

The Surprise Makeover
Denver spent a few days with his cousins in Sydney a few weeks ago. I think it was a much bigger deal for me than it was for him- it was hard to be so far away from my 'baby'. I needed something to keep myself busy while he was away (the house was suddenly so quiet)...and it seemed like the perfect chance to give Denvers room a surprise makeover. As you can see in the 'before' photo- it definitely needed it! I was limited by budget and not being able to change the walls or put hooks up (we're renting), but I'm really happy with how it all came together...
The makeover completed...well, almost. I've now added a funky silver touch lamp and photo frame to the bedside table, and a few other things. My favourite pieces; the number print and frame (just $22 for both at IKEA), the fake plant on the bookshelf, the mammoth display, and the snugly sheepskin on the floor in the 'reading' corner. Considering I was on a tight budget, I'm really happy with how it turned out. And the best part- he loves it!!!

Speaking of room makeovers, check out what my good friend Toni from Make it Perfect did with the cot we gave them after Denver grew out of it (5 years ago)- I LOVE what she has done with it, so funky!

Inspired
How can you not want to run to the nearest yarn shop and buy every colour available after looking at a blog like this one. Attic 24 is one of our favourite places to go for crafty inspiration. Lucy creates the most beautiful crocheted items, and her colour combinations almost make you wish the yarn was edible!!!
